Join us on Saturday 22nd September in central London, where we’ll be joining thousands of supporters, and some of the biggest names in environmental conservation for the #PeoplesWalkForWildlife.

The walk starts at 1pm from the Reformers’ Tree in Hyde Park, but the action kicks off at 10am where there’ll be stands, guest speakers and a few surprises. If that wasn’t reason enough to join, read on to hear five more…

1. Stand up for UK wildlife

When was the last time you saw a hedgehog, a frog or an owl?

Since the 1970s, we’ve seen a decline in over 50% of UK wildlife, making our country one of the most nature depleted in the world.

The People’s Walk for Wildlife is an opportunity to join fellow supporters and demonstrate public concern for the loss of our once flourishing species. If you would like to see the reversal of this downward trend, join us in September and share your voice.

2. Send a message to our decision makers

In a time where our environmental future looks uncertain, the walk will get those in power to sit up and listen, and let them know that we’re watching.

UK Government have previously committed to ‘being a world-leading protector of the natural world’, but currently, their actions aren’t living up to this claim. As we leave the EU, this is our opportunity to change the way we manage our land, to improve the environment for both our wildlife, and ourselves. By attending the People’s Walk for Wildlife, we can let government know that this is an issue we want addressed, and together, we can influence the restoration of our nature.

3. Get inspired

You’ll be in good company, as you join thousands of other like-minded supporters. We’ll be joining up on the day with other charities, NGOs and conservation groups, where you’ll be able to learn about their mission statements and goals and get to know the people making it happen.

There’ll also be talks on the day where you’ll learn about the issues UK wildlife is facing today, how you can play your part. Be prepared to get inspired and take action.

The walk is family friendly, so bring along the next generation too, where they’ll be able to get their hands dirty for a good cause!

4. Be an active citizen

Did you know that the UK has lost more nature than the global average? If you want to reverse this trend, it’s important for you to walk the talk. The People’s Walk for Wildlife is your opportunity to get on the ground, and get active for our environment. There is power in numbers, and the more people we can get to show their support, the louder we’ll be heard by our decision makers.

Even if you can’t make it on the day, you can join in online, and tweet us, or Chris Packham, using the hashtag, #PeoplesWalkForWildlife. We’d love to hear your stories, what UK wildlife means to you, and why you want to walk for wildlife.

5. Spend your Saturday outside

As well as supporting a great cause, you’ll also have a lot of fun! Is there a better way to spend your afternoon than with a crisp autumnal walk? Bring along your friends, family and even pets for a stroll in the great outdoors. Take it one step further and come in costume! We’ll be there, alongside other leading names in conservation from 10am. The hour-long walk starts at 1pm.
