Families and children take part in an Aviva Access to Nature Fund visit along the River Nar, Norfolk.

Project overview

WWF, Aviva and Norfolk Rivers Trust, provided funding to help community groups in Norfolk connect with nature. This scheme has now closed.

Children from a local school in Norfolk visit the River Nar alongside the Norfolk Rivers Trust as part of their Access to Nature activity.

Why we ran this programme

Nature gives us so much; from the food we eat, to the air we breathe and the water we drink, it keeps us healthy and thriving.

Just 20 minutes in nature can boost your mental wellbeing. It can boost our mood, help us cope with stress, reduce anxiety and even raise our confidence.

We think everyone deserves access to nature’s incredible benefits. That’s why Aviva, WWF and Norfolk Rivers Trust launched the Aviva Access to Nature Fund – a fund created to break down barriers for groups struggling to access Norfolk’s rivers and countryside.

Project impact

Together we helped make nature accessible to school groups, older people, young carers and many more, supporting communities in Norfolk to connect with nature and enjoy its incredible health and wellbeing benefits.

More than 40 groups from across Norfolk took part, all dedicated to driving positive change in their communities.
