Dorcas Gwata

Dorcas is a global health and safeguarding consultant and a co-chair of Better Health, a network of African diaspora health professionals in the UK. She is a mental health and public health nurse, with wide-ranging grassroots experience across public and global health and rights, education, and youth violence, as a clinician, researcher, advisor, and leader. She is an advisor to the Tropical Health Education Trust on Mental Health and Safeguarding and the  Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene on Mental Health Policy in Low Income Countries and a trustee (and former chair)  of the Zimbabwe Health Training Support Charity. She has worked with the Mayor of London’s Public Health Group on mental health interventions for young people affected by youth violence and is a former trustee of  Africans United Against Child Abuse.
