Starting your Happy By Nature journey
Happy By Nature is designed to help schools bring a daily dose of nature into pupils’ lives – sparking curiosity, connection, and care for the natural world.
Use films, images, soundscapes and activities to inspire children to explore nature in the classroom and experience its power beyond it — building a lasting connection with the world around them.
Pupils can collect stamps and stickers for completing activities and earn a certificate from WWF Ambassador Steve Backshall when they complete their Happy By Nature journey.

Our four activity pillars
Our pillars encourage behaviours which enable young people to get happy by nature, drawing on different skills, interests and aptitudes. These behaviours are essential to our global and local efforts to bring nature back to life, as well as being realistic and accessible for you and your pupils to try in your classroom or playground.

Build foundational understanding of wildlife, nature or the environment by learning about species, habitats, and how to look after them.

Inspire discovery and build inquiry skills by learning about the environment, exploration and adventure.

Unpack the importance of empathy, language and storytelling by sharing experiences and advocating for nature.

Encourage resilience and emotional regulation skills by experiential, nature-based learning.

Happy By Nature – Outdoor Inspiration
We know that regular time in nature enhances learning, supports mental and physical health, and nurtures emotional wellbeing. But access to nature isn’t equal and we’re working to change that.
