Your Earth Hour Stories

We have a earth dome and chickens
We carried out a nature survey in an area of our school grounds during our Eco Club meeting - results attached
We will explore trees on our site. We will measure their width to estimate height. We will try to identify them using apps and their bark, buds and if lucky leaves and blossom. We will then create a map of the school and print QR codes to identify different trees and the species they support.
We will have displays around the school to encourage people to interact with nature. We will encourage them to notice smells, colours and sounds. We will use the boards we brought with an eco grant last year.
We will do a search for wildlife around our site. We found this newt under a slab in the garden area. We also found a collection of cherry stones with holes gnawed out of them under another slab, this could be signs of a shrew or vile. We will also listen and look for birds.
Victoria Brown our local education officer helped us identify bugs within our pond. We had lots of water mites which suggests low oxygen. We are going to remove dead leaves and introduce water violets and other plants to increase oxygen levels for wildlife
Our Eco warrior team have been taking part in trembly meeting to see how we can help create a better Earth. We have started to do a school recycle club every Friday. We are taking part in a whole school litter pick.
