Climate change work in Wales

If we set our ambition high, show our determination, and put in the work, we can do something about climate change.

Our current work on tackling the climate crisis in Wales

By changing how we use our land, Wales can play our part in reversing nature’s decline and tackling the climate crisis.

Supporting farmers to adopt climate and nature friendly practices is crucial to securing our future and our ability to produce food.

That's why we're calling for a Land of Our Future where people and nature thrive.

Seagrass can absorb and store carbon up to 35 times faster than tropical rainforests.

Seagrass absorbs and stores carbon and provides a vital home for nature. Healthy meadows can also help protect communities from the impacts of coastal erosion and flooding. However, we have lost up to 92% of UK seagrass meadows.

WWF Cymru are working with Project Seagrass to restore seagrass meadows in north Wales and demand large-scale restoration across Wales.

A Wales fit for future generations.

We need determined leadership from Welsh Government to cut the harmful emissions that cause climate change. That will help make our economy sustainable and create good jobs for our communities, it will help provide homes for the future, and help protect Welsh nature.

It will make our country fit for future generations.

Being a truly sustainable nation, as the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 requires, means being low-carbon and efficient with our resources. So as well as making our homes more energy efficient, it’s important we also find ways of reducing the amount of energy we use – and waste – too.
